Dutch Prime Minister Rutte visits Aruba

ORANJESTAD - On January 22, 2019, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mr. Mark Rutte paid a short visit to the island of Aruba, accompanied by the State Secretary for the Interior and Kingdom Relations, Mr. Raymond Knops.

Evelyn Wever-Croes and the State Secretary for the Interior and Kingdom Relations, Mr. Raymond Knops.They were welcomed by the Aruban Prime Minister, Mrs. Evelyn Wever-Croes upon arrival at the Aeropuerto Internacional (Reina BeatrixQueen Beatrix Airport).  Short after arrival the Dutch Prime Minister held a meeting with Mr. Alfonso Boekhoudt, the Governor of Aruba. Immediately after this brief meeting both Mr. Rutte and Mrs. Wever-Croes met to discuss topics of mutual intrest yet important for Aruba. The dutch Prime Minister later met with the other cabinet members during a council of ministers.

Mr. Rutte was in Curacao for a meeting regarding the economic event to promote trade and seized the occasion to visit Aruba to meet the Wever-Croes cabinet for the first time officially.

The escalating situation in Venezuela and the Crisis Plan of the Aruba Government where among the topics discussed by the leaders.

The Dutch leader concluded his visit to Aruba with a presentation at the Queen Beatrix Airport of the “Gateway 2030 Project” and held a joint press conference before boarding to the Netherlands.
