Golden Apple 2018 National Excellency Award in Education

ORANJESTAD - The Department of Education is once more hosting the Golden Apple Award: The National Excellency Award in Education.

This award was introduced in 2011 as the “Teacher of the Year Award” and lasted until 2014 as such. In 2015 the award was expanded to include nominations of more of those involved in the educational field.

Aware of the importance of education and the recognition of those involved within the education system, the goal was set to give attention and praise positivity at schools and in classes, give merit to teachers while stimulating quality education.

Enrollment:

The nomination for the Golden Apple 2018 is open for all education levels regulated in Aruba; Primary Education, Secondary Education, Special Education and Superior Education.

The Golden Apple 2018 Award will honor those in the following fields: Innovative School Project, Teacher, School Leaders (Principal, Director, Rector or Unit Manager) Lifetime Achievement (retired teachers or leaders or those soon to retire)

Criteria:

The nominees will be evaluated by a council of judges guided by the Department of Education.

Important for the nominees are;

  • Pedagogic and Didactic aspects: Didactic and organizational skills in class
  • Social aspect: Social behavior with students, colleagues and parents
  • Personal aspect: Personal development and professionalism
  • Innovative: Vision for education on Aruba

Nominees can be submitted by the entire community; students, parents, colleagues candidates for the Golden Apple 2018 Award.

Submission of nominees is from November 12 2018 until December 12, 2018
