The slaughtering of small live-stock animals at home is illegal and involves health risks.
It is a tradition in Aruba to celebrate the holidays with goat soup, pork leg and pickled suls. Many people keep animals throughout the entire year in order to slaughter these in December for their own consumption.
It is for this reason that the Abattoir is announcing their slaughter hours for the holiday season. Slaughtering will take place from Monday to Thursday in the morning hours. All animals should be brought in between 7:00 am and 9:00 am for slaughtering. The last day of slaughtering is December 18th 2018.
Slaughtering is only available with appointment and everybody should confirm their appointment the day before the slaughtering is scheduled. This in order to coordinate the slaughtering and provide the best service to the public.
