Renovations of the library building in San Nicolas took about a year to complete. Last December the library moved back to their renovated facility. To celebrate this milestone, an intimate appreciation event was organized for the companies and everyone involved with the renovation.
This evening was attended by the Minister of Education, Science and Sustainable Development, dr. A. Lampe, Prime Minister Mrs. Evelien Wever-Croes, Vice President of Parliament Mr. Howell, Library friends and the press. The event was presented by Mr. Gregory Richardson who guided the festive night effortless with a great speech, poetry and expressed hopes for the library to remain a source of inspiration for the community of San Nicolas.
Some speakers took the guests on a trip down memory lane with some personal anecdotes. Guests were also entertained with 3 short info-documentaries created by the Audio Visual Department of the Library, with Mr. Tito Bolivar (AFF), Sr. Leo Bèrènos (history aficionado) and Mrs. Judith Ling, coordinator at the Library in San Nicolas.
The facility has a new look and is fully operational. Computers are available and so is the Youth Department with weekly activities every Wednesday at 3pm for the children. The variety of children books is substantial while the adult book collection has new and attractive additions.
The Library in San Nicolas is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays and with extended hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, serving San Nicolas, Savaneta and surrounding areas.
