One of these meetings was with Carnival Cruise Lines in Miami where they discussed Aruba cruise tourism thoroughly.
The delegation consisted of:
- Minister of Tourism, Sport and Health, Mr. Dangui Oduber;
- CEO and Director of the Aruba Tourism Authority (A.T.A.), Mrs. Ronella Tjin Asjoe-Croes;
- Aruba Ports Authority Director (APA), Mr. Marc Figaroa;
- Advisor to the Minister of Tourism Miss Sharlyze Romano;
- APA CFO, Mr. Humphrey Tromp;
- A.T.A. Cruise Manager Mr. Mario Arends.
The delegation was pleasantly surprised by the announcement made by Carnival Cruise Lines; Aruba was ranked best cruise destination and port on a global scale. This is based on the ratings given by passengers for the many aspects of their trip and itinerary, such as quality of service, courteousness, shopping experience, restaurants, infrastructure, etc. Aruba is consistently a highly demanded destination, always scoring high and scoring the highest in 2019. The average score for Aruba is 9 out of 10, which speaks volumes. This helped push Aruba to become the highest-ranked destination in the Caribbean and worldwide for cruise tourism. Carnival Cruise Lines’ top executives expressed compliments towards Aruba for their hard work and dedication. Aruba is an outstanding destination and port for Carnival Cruise Lines. They complimented the teamwork between the stakeholders like Aruba Tourism Authority and Aruba Ports Authority implemented by the Government’s vision for tourism in Aruba.
Carnival Cruise Lines is the world’s biggest cruise ship company in the world and was responsible for bringing almost 200 thousand tourists to Aruba in 2019. The Minister expressed gratitude, emphasized the importance of the partnership between Aruba and Carnival Cruise Lines, and has expressed his commitment to keeping working hard to keep Aruba in the current market position Aruba is benefitting from.
The Minister is grateful to the A.T.A., APA and all other stakeholders with the achievements in the cruise tourism industry. It should serve as an incentive to keep growing and to remain focused on the goal of staying at the top.
