The vision for innovation and education in general of the government for Aruba:
Innovation is a very important element for any country, industry, company, and organization.
The development in the fields of technology and automation over the past years are happening at a very fast pace, and has a very great impact on our lives, on the way we work and on the future of the new generations.
The impact on humanity is very crucial. In his New Year’s speech, the Governor of Aruba Alfonso Boekhoudt said he hoped that automation could be applied in a complete way, without losing sight on the human aspects, which is key for this automation process. This is also the focus of the Government of Aruba. Human beings are and will always be central in all the innovation process.
In 2020, the focus will remain on the new abilities that are needed to create alternative and diverse job opportunities for our economy. Education and life-long learning are essential in order to achieve this, not only for the children but for everyone interested in developing their abilities or who want to learn new things.
The government has 5 priorities that they are focusing on and promoting in 2020;
- 100 Innovations.
- B-Lab Santa Cruz
- Future of Work Vocational Training
- eLearning 2.0
This marks the beginning of what will go in history as the year of innovation and education in Aruba.
Chief Innovation Officer Varelie Croes and the entire FUTURA team are in charge of the planning and execution of these priorities.
The Prime Minister is thankful to FUTURA and Ministers for their cooperation and especially, the members of parliament for approving the budget to make innovation a reality.
