ORANJESTAD - Due to the high demand for the influenza vaccine 19/20, the Department for Infectious Disease DBZ has run out of stock.

Influenza shotEach year the DBZ receives 3500 influenza vaccine vials from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and they end up with left over vials. This year’s vaccination campaign was certainly a great success since it is for the very first time in the history of the DBZ, that they reached their target of getting the biggest group of those vulnerable to receive the flu shot in a short time. This of course is beneficial since it gives proper protection against the influenza virus. It was a well-coordinated collaboration between family practitioners and the DBZ to get the right amount of vials ordered to cover the group considered to be at higher risk.

There are no more influenza vaccine vials available.

The vaccination season starts in September/ October 2020, and the DBZ is urging those in need to get vaccinated in time for the next season.
