ORANJESTAD - The first “Supernova” is an event scheduled to take place during the “Immerse Innovation Week” that is being held on October, 29, 2019, for children age 12 to 15.

The main theme is STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

During the Immerse Innovation Week, Aruba’s innovation week, FUTURA as organizers of this event is focusing on innovation for girls. Globally, job opportunities in the STEM sectors have skyrocketed compared to any other sector. Therefore, it is important to trigger more females to explore STEM. Men in Aruba mainly dominate jobs in the STEM field.

Girls of all ages can come together and exchange ideas, collaborate, inspire others and learn new abilities at multiple locations around Aruba. This will assure girls participating. This project stimulates gender equality, the 5th goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

During Supernova, female participants will meet with local female STEM graduates who will share their experience. They will have the opportunity to learn more about the subjects of STEM using a creative approach during this workshop.

SUPERNOVA starts during the innovation week and will continue in 2020. Future SUPERNOVA projects will explore other subjects to help develop girls to become innovation pioneers and contribute to impulse Aruba into the future.

The Prime Minister of Aruba is inviting parents of girls between the ages 12 and 15 to encourage their daughter to participate in this event.

We work together on an informative, accessible and user-friendly Government Portal for Aruba.
