448 cases were confirmed and 9 deaths because of related complications.
The vast majority of the cases have been registered in China, but the virus has already spread to Japan, South Korea, Thailand and the USA (as of 22 January 2020)
Aruba has not registered any suspicious cases nor confirmed cases of Corona Virus.
The DVG has frequent contacts with stakeholders in this field to be able to put the surveillance and monitoring plan into action should it be needed. So far, there are no travel advisories, from or to China, announced by the WHO. Experts believe this virus spreads from human to human and causes symptoms like:
- runny nose;
- muscular aches
- And in extreme cases;
- kidney failure;
The DVG urges Chinese travelers visiting China for the Lunar New Year’s celebration as well as residents, to follow the hygiene guidelines set by the WHO to stop the spreading of this virus.
- Frequent washing of hands with soap and water and or sanitizer
- Cough and or sneeze in a tissue or upper sleeves
- Avoid contact with anyone showing flu-like symptoms
