ORANJESTAD - The Chancellery of the Netherlands Orders announced on March 25 that the planned Royal Awards (Lintjesregen) would continue on April 24, albeit in an adapted manner.

Royal AwardsOn April 23, the Governor of Aruba, Z.E. Alfonso Boekhoudt, will contact the citizens of Aruba to be decorated by telephone to tell them that His Majesty the King is pleased to appoint them to a knighthood. On April 24 a special edition of the Government Gazette, containing the names of all decorated persons will be published. In this way, those who have made a special contribution to society can still be appreciated, even if the actual presentation cannot take place on April 24.

Since the actual presentation of the decorations cannot take place on April 24, a date within the Kingdom will be picked when the Royal Awards can still happen. When this will take place, depend on the development of the Coronavirus.

In line with the adjustment of Royal Awards 2020, the annual Orange Celebration, a festive reception given by the Governor on the King's birthday, will not take place on April 24.
