The yearly report is made at the end of each year. This is the third consecutive year the Ministry of General Affairs presents its annual report.
The Annual report gives an overview of everything done in 2020, specifically by the Ministry of General Affairs. It addresses integrity, personnel, innovation, and energy. It also includes a chapter that addresses the perspective for the times ahead.
The year 2020 was not an easy year for the Government since all the objectives planned changed when Covid-19 struck. 2020 was the year in which the Government would have consolidated all that has been done since 2017. The financial outlook was showing a surplus of 40 million florins. These funds were destined for education, healthcare, the fight against addiction. With these funds, they would also have constructed more homes for the elderly. The Social Crisis Plan would have also paid off concerning the social situation in Aruba. This would have also been the year in which we would have seen more economic diversity.
The arrival of the pandemic in Aruba back in March 2020 changed the entire panorama.
Fortunately, Aruba was prepared with a crisis team and a team of professionals with expertise in healthcare and public order dedicated to helping. The Government’s focus shifted completely to saving people’s lives and also trying to get the economy back on its feet.
