The Social Formation program helps with the social formation of adolescents between the ages of 18 and 24. This program initially had one class each year and was only meant for boys. It helps participants build the foundation for discipline and responsibilities in life. At the end of the program, the participants will be guided by the Department of Social Affairs, with the intermediation of the Department of Labor Progress DPL, in finding a job.
According to the Prime Minister, there are plenty of success stories to share.
With this agreement, there will be two classes each year, and girls are also admitted to the program which is given at the Dutch Marine Base in Savaneta. This allows more participants to enroll in this program.
The Prime Minister thanked the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Glenbert Croes, for his determination as well as Commander Art van Beekhuizen and Commander Frank Boots. This is an agreement in the Landspakket (National financial aid package) between Aruba and the Netherlands. Aruba is now the first country in the Dutch Kingdom to have this social formation program for both sexes.
The upcoming program of the Social Formation starts on March 8, 2021. For more information or questions, please contact Jessica Ras at 522-5352.
