Aruba tourism recovered by 92% in the past six months compared to 2019

ORANJESTAD – On August 1, 2022, the Minister of Tourism and Public Health, Mr. Dangui Oduber, announced that tourism in Aruba has recovered by 92% in the first six months of 2022 compared to 2019.

Arrivals passengers YTD june 2022If not for January, when the Omicron variant affected tourism, Aruba would have surpassed the occupancy rate of 2019, the record year for tourism in Aruba. Aruba is experiencing a significant recovery, considered one of the best in the world. The average global tourism recovery is 46%, while the average recovery rate on our side of the world is 60%.

Percentage monthly recovery January 2021 – June 2022.According to the last three monthly reports from the Aruba Tourism Authority, Aruba surpassed the level of tourism in April, May, and June 2019, respectively 108%, 103%, and 103%. The final report for July 2022 is ready yet, but the expectations of tourism recovery exceed the numbers of July 2019.

According to the IMF, Aruba has a second place for the best tourism recovery globally.
