Betico Day Festivities 2022

ORANJESTAD - On January 25, the Aruba community remembered and honored the birthdate of the great Aruban political leader, the late Gilberto Francois (Betico) Croes.

In connection with these festivities, the Ministry of Culture CCDN (Commission for the Celebration of the National Days) organized a cultural manifestation for all dignitaries and guests on January 24, 2022, and a formal ceremony on January 25, 2022.

This year’s cultural manifestation was virtual. The community took part in this celebration and enjoyed a cultural program dedicated to the memory of Betico Croes. Local TV channels and social platforms broadcasted this program. It was a program filled with music, poetry, singing, and dancing. To comply with the safety protocols, a limited amount of artists performed.

The protocol act took place on Tuesday, January 25, with a limited amount of guests in attendance. There were musical performances by a children's choir under the direction of Danny Koolman, and Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes gave a speech. During the official ceremony, guests must comply at all times with the safety regulations of the DVG and Crisis Team:

There was a limited number of guests, and the public was not allowed to attend, and the Vondellaan and Rumbastraat will be closed to the public and traffic.
