Employees who travel after June 15, 2020

ORANJESTAD –The Social Insurance Bank (SVb) announces that any employee planning to travel after June 15, 2020, to locations with COVID-19 positive cases and are placed under quarantine upon returning, are not entitled to sickness compensation as indicated in article 7 section 1a of the National Ordinance Sickness Insurance for the quarantine period.

Traveling to COVID-19 affected countries is considered irresponsible and neglectful (gross negligence).

Article 7 section 1a of the National Ordinance Sickness Insurance states that the employee waives all rights to sick leave benefits in the event the cause of sick leave is intentional or due to gross negligence. Exceptions will only apply to those who are sent overseas for medical treatment by the AZV. Please contact our medical administration for more information by sending an email to medisch@svbaruba.org if you are traveling overseas for medical treatment.
