ORANJESTAD - Now that the Christmas celebrations are over, it is time to celebrate the end of the year with fireworks.

The Department of Public Health DVG reminds the community to enjoy fireworks responsibly and offers a few tips to consider:

  • Protect seniors from the toxic firework fumes, provide them with earplugs to protect their hearing, and do not leave seniors alone near fireworks as these can cause anxiety.
  • Protect the children from the toxic firework fumes, make them wear earplugs to protect their hearing, and do NOT let them handle fireworks without adult supervision.
  • Protect your pets by keeping them preferably indoors and giving them tranquilizers according to your vet’s instructions.
  • Protect yourself and others.

Continue to protect yourself against COVID-19. Keep social distance, celebrate with family and avoid agglomerations. Be more conscious and celebrate the end of the year responsibly. Let’ us avoid firework injuries!

Enjoy fireworks responsibly.
