Rene van Nes started his visit with a meeting with Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes and Minister of Economic Affairs, Communication, and Sustainable Development Mr. Geoffrey Wever, discussing the interests of the cooperation relationship with the EU for Aruba in the form of financial support for the creation of sustainable projects. As a partner within the Kingdom, Aruba receives valuable contributions from the European Union.
One of the cardinal things on Mr. van Nes's schedule was the visit to the University of Aruba, particularly the renovation of the Maria Convent. Here, Mr. van Nes saw the progress of the renovation work of this historic building that will become the new STEM faculty of the University of Aruba (SISSTEM) shortly. The renovation and investments in this new faculty have a significant added value for Aruba and education in Aruba.
Mr. van Nes also visited the Fundacion Parke Nacional Arikok, where he received information about the ongoing RESEMBID funded by the EU. Ongoing projects such as "Turning the Tide", also funded by RESEMBID, are very important to address the challenges in sustainable development and the protection of our ecosystem.
Parke Arikok has also received funds from the European Union in the past. This EU contribution illustrates its positive value and impact, considering the importance of the FPNA for Aruba.
Projects such as the RESEMBID, the renovation of the Maria Convent, and the investments in the University's new faculty are challenging without European Union cooperation and investments.
