Those of high risk include anyone who has a higher risk of getting complications like pneumonia and bronchitis due to simple flu.
These are individuals older than 60 years, children under the age of 2, persons with underlying medical conditions like chronic diseases or respiratory illnesses. Obese, pregnant, or anyone with a low immunologic system caused by cancer and HIV is also at higher risk of complications.
The free influenza vaccine will be administered by nurses at the following locations and dates:
- Thursday, October 22 and 29 at Centro Playa Pabou from 9 am to 12 pm
- Friday, October 23 and 30 at Centro Curazon Santa Cruz from 9 am to 12 pm
- Tuesday, October 27 and November 3 at Centro di Bario Noord from 9 am to 12 pm
- Monday, November 2 and 9 at Centro di Bario Brazil from 9 am to 12 pm
Only those at high risk of complications will receive their free vaccine at these locations. Each person should provide a doctor’s prescription and their AZV card. Those over 60 years should only have a valid AZV card at hand. Anyone else excluded from the high-risk group wanting the vaccine should purchase the vaccine at the Department of Infectious Diseases.
