ORANJESTAD - On May 1, 2020, the Council of Ministers of the Kingdom of the Netherlands approved the second soft loan for Aruba good, for 49.4 million florins.

This demonstrates the solidarity of the government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands with the people of Aruba in the midst of the worst crisis on the island. Due to the loss of tourism, government revenues have fallen by 80% in one go, while the costs are increasing in particular to combat the health and economic effects of the corona crisis. It concerns a bullet loan that must be repaid after two years. The Prime Minister of Aruba, Evelyn Wever-Croes is very grateful and grateful for this.

This loan is intended for the wage subsidy scheme, a subsidy scheme for employers to continue to pay the employee's salary. Because of the corona crisis, 37,000 workers are at risk of losing their jobs, and this scheme aims to ensure job retention as much as possible for companies that have lost more than 25% of sales. The employers who will be eligible for this will shortly receive an email from the SVb to register.
