This MoU opens the possibility to explore the possibility of converting the former DOW building into the main building of the APA and a Visitor Inspiration Center of the ATA. Minister Oduber indicated that it tooka long time to sign this MoU, which is a significant achievement.
The APA will take over the former DOW building, completely renovate it and share it with the ATA. The second floor will be the headquarters of the APA, while the Aruba Tourism Authority will lease the first floor and convert it into a Visitor Inspiration Center to provide our visitors with information, inspiration, and assistance cruise tourists.
The government's vision and policy for tourism are based on continued investment in the Aruba product, stimulating the economy and creating new opportunities for the community. Aruba is an excellent and high-quality product, and to remain competitive it is essential to continue to invest in Aruba.
Minister Oduber is delighted that they have finally signed the MoU after so long. On March 14, 2023, a delegation consisting of the APA director, ATA CEO, and the DOW and Monuments Bureau received a tour of the abandoned building and inspected the condition of the building. With the MoU signed, they will soon renovate the former DOW building after being vacated 15 years ago.
