New measures and recommendations announced valid until January 31

ORANJESTAD – During a press conference held on January 6, 2021. the Government of Aruba announced new measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, because of a steady increase in positive cases.

Closing time 

The closing time for all establishments remains 10:00 pm and is active until January 31, 2021.

High fines will be imposed and must be paid immediately. The area prohibition is valid on all public areas like parking lots and beach starting at 7:00 pm. No activity permits will be granted until January 31 2021.
  • Limited to the available space
  • Always apply  1,5 m distance
  • Not more than 10 persons indoors and maximum 25 outdoors
  • The police can stop any activity not complying with the safety protocols, even if there are less than the allowed amount of people. 
Musical entertainment is not allowed, not at home nor at restaurants. Aglomeration of boats or yachts is not allowed. Maximum 4 persons allowed per boat. 

COVID-19 Protocol reminder:

  • Apply hygiene rules at all times;
  • Keep distance;
  • Use face mask indoors at all times when visiting places;
  • Establishments should have a compliance officer
  • Funerals: Maximum 25 persons at the same time.

Shopping Nursing homes Sports Commerce
  • 1 person per family
  • A face mask is mandatory outdoors when the 1,5 meters distance is not possible
Nursing homes will increase their safety protocols
  • Except for contact sports, all other sports activities are allowed as long that there are no more than 25 in total at the sports activity if outdoors and a maximum of 10 indoors.
  • The maximum amount of persons allowed includes coaches, referees, athletes, etc.
  • Spectators are not allowed at any sports activity.
  • Maximum 4 persons allowed per table at restaurants, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Musical entertainment is not allowed, only background music is permitted.
  • Dancing is not allowed

Taskforce:

The multiple task forces will tighten their controls and ensure that companies comply with the safety regulations

Goal:

  • Contain the spreading of COVID-19;
  • Lower the amount of new cases;
  • After evaluation some measures will be lifted pending the effects of the vaccination.
