Online registration termination of employment

ORANJESTAD - The COVID-19 pandemic has a major global impact on the economy and thus on the labor market.

Aruba is no exception. The measures taken to contain the virus have led to a large number of companies being forced to largely or completely shut down their business activities. As a result, many employees became unemployed.

In the period from  January 1, 2020, to August 31, 2020, around 300 people digitally registered with the Labor and Investigation Department (DAO) in connection with the termination of employment. Around 70% of the employment contracts that were terminated were related to the corona crisis, while around 58% of this group disagreed with the termination. From this group, it appears that 54% had an employment contract for an indefinite period and around 53% of the group did not seek any form of support in connection with the termination of employment.

The employment relationship can be terminated along a number of legally established routes and for a number of legally established reasons. The preliminary conclusion of the registration shows that the termination of employment was mainly based on the termination form of 'mutual consent'.

The DAO wishes to gather information about the termination of employment as of January 1, 2020, in particular how these took place. The online registration is still open and you are requested to do so if you have not registered previously.

Below you will find a link to register your data with the DAO.

Your data will be treated with all due care and confidentiality.
