Only debit card payments possible at the Tax Department staring January 2021

ORANJESTAD – After a successful trial period and as announced in November, the Tax Department (DIMP) would only accept debit card payments transactions at the DIMP, starting January 1, 2021

The DIMP will have exceptions for non-commercial payments by seniors older than 60 years. They can only pay in cash at the main office in Camacuri.

Cash payment can create vulnerable situations for criminal activity. With the current pandemic, healthcare authorities urge people to use card payments instead of cash, as cash can be a source for the virus to spread. Additionally, cash payment can cause delays and increases the possibility of errors when very busy.

Online payments

The DIMP encourages online payments by using Aruba Bank or Banco Di Caribe. These banks’ systems are automatically connected with the DIMP’s system. Transactions are registered on the same date in the DIMP’s system. With this, customers have to keep the “cut-off time” of each bank in mind.
