ORANJESTAD – The Civil Registry of Aruba (Censo) informs that since March 9, 2014, the validity of all Dutch passports for persons older than 18 years has been extended from 5 to 10 years.

For persons younger than 18 years, the validity remains five years. Therefore, the total number of applications has remained stable, between 3000 and 4000 per year.

Number of passports that expires every year. For persons older than 18 years, it is crucial to realize that after ten years, a significant increase in Dutch passports that expire in 2024 is expected, and automatically, the number of applications will be high. That's why the Censo urges all passport holders to make an appointment in time and not wait until their passport expires. Passports can take 2 to 3 weeks to arrive from the Netherlands, where they make the passports. The Censo does not have any influence on the processing time for these.

Below is a clearer picture of the numbers from 2023 onward. As you can see, it is expected that there will be a very busy period from 2024. Therefore, customers are asked to take this into account.
