ORANJESTAD - Recently, the Cas di Cultura hosted the “Poet laureate ” event where poets recited their poetry to Aruba.

This is the 8th time this event has been organized in connection with the celebration of the Aruba National Flag and Anthem Day.

The evening started with a welcome statement from Mrs. Suzy Maduro who was the master of ceremonies for this event and Mr. Atan Lee, founder of this event and followed by the Minister of Culture Mrs. Xiomara Maduro who gave an eloquent speech praising all those participating poets for their unconditional love expressed in their poetry for their island.

Sergio Winterdal finished in third place with the poetry called ‘Mi Sanger’ inspired by the native Indians of Aruba. Jhon Freddy Montoya finished in second place with his poetry called ‘Mas di Mil Motibo’, a poet that explains what makes Aruba such a marvelous island.

The Poet laureate of 2021 is Mr. Frank Croes, with his poetry called ‘Nos Lenga’ which was the creation of our language to communicate with each other.
