MARACA is a book about the Caribbean feeling produced with different stories and local poetry. The publication is a result of the writing course given by Mr. Vi Frank Jr. back in November 2021. Of the 11 participants, seven submitted their pieces in the form of prose or poetry which, along with work by Mr. Frank Jr., are included in this book.
According to the students, the course was successful, and they wanted to document their stories, prose, and poetry in a book. The deadline was June 2022 for the participants to submit their creations.
Some of these participants never wrote a story, so it was essential to give them time.
After several editing rounds, in November 2022, they finally completed the book.
The authors/poets who worked on the book Maraca are Glenda Tromp, Adelaida Ponson, Noris van Lis-Donata, Dominico Werleman, Ariana Koolman, Elienne Ratiaga. Ida Croes and instructor Vi Frank Jr.
The entire community is welcome to attend the presentation of the book Maraca on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at the National Library starting at 5:00 pm.
