During the school vaccination campaign, the JGZ offers regular vaccination against the diseases such as Diphtheria Tetanus, Poliomyelitis, Measles, Rubella (German Measles), Mumps. For children in the sixth grade of primary school, the JGZ offers the HPV vaccine that helps to prevent cervical cancer. These vaccines DO NO include the COVID-19 vaccine.
For more than 70 years, the JGZ of the Department of Public Health (DVG) is in charge of the vaccination of the children of Aruba. JGZ works jointly with the WGK and also requests the cooperation of the kindergartens and primary schools to achieve a high vaccination rate in Aruba.
JGZ records all vaccines administered to children. At the start of every school year, the JGZ can trace back which vaccines children in the highest class of kindergartens, class 5 and 6 of primary schools still need to get. All parents of children in the mentioned classes will receive a letter informing them of the school vaccination campaign and ask for their authorization to give their child (ren) the vaccine (s) they missed.
