Reminder - The flu vaccine is available and free for 60+

ORANJESTAD - The Department of Public Health reminds the community that the influenza vaccine or flu shot is available for those at higher risk for complications caused by the seasonal flu.

The risk group comprises adults 60 years, and older and individuals with chronic illnesses.

Influenza shotSeniors 60 years and older receive the flu vaccine free of charge and do not require a doctor's prescription. These adults can walk in at the Section for Contagious Diseases of the DVG and should only bring a valid AZV card. Those who live in care homes will receive the flu vaccine in the comfort of their care home.

People with chronic illnesses who are not 60 years also qualify for the free flu shot but should present a doctor's prescription.

With the Doctor's prescription and valid AZV card, they can also walk in at the Section for Contagious Disease of the DVG for their flu vaccine.

Everybody else with no chronic illness or not older than 60 years can also get the flu vaccine but should make an appointment from Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 11:45 am and from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm by calling the Section for Contagious Diseases at 5224239 or 5224241

The fee for the Flu vaccine for this group is Awg. 20,00.
