Renovation of two monumental buildings in 2021

ORANJESTAD – On December 18, 2020, Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs and Culture, Xiomara Maduro with Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes, and Minister of Turism, Public Health and Sport, Dangui Oduber signed the agreements for the renovation of 2 monumental buildings, starting in 2021 and under the supervision of the Monuments Bureau.

The buildings that will undergo renovation are the Department of Public Health (DVG) and the Department of Human Resources (DRH) located at Eagle.

Minister Maduro and Minister Oduber signed the agreement with Albo Aruba NV for the interior renovation of the DVG building known as the Landslaboratorium National laboratory. The renovation starts on January 26, 2021, and is scheduled to finish on June 24, 2021. Total renovation costs are a maximum of 466 thousand florins. The renovated building, while preserving the characteristics of the monument, will provide a better and improved work environment for the DVG personnel who worked tirelessly during the pandemic.

Prime Minister Wever-Croes and Minister Maduro signed an agreement with General Contractor NV for the renovation of the DRH building located at Eagle. This building served as the main building for Arend Petroleum Company, better known as Eagle Refinery in 1928. The building served many other entities over the years, including ATA and AHATA. The renovation costs are a maximum of 750 thousand florins and will start January 18, 2021, and completed on July 16, 2021.
