RIVM approves the Covid-19 Vaccination Plan and Aruba can start vaccination

ORANJESTAD – The Minister of Tourism, Public Health, and Sport, Mr. Dangui Oduber announced on January 28, 2021, that the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, RIVM, approved the vaccination plan for Aruba. The RIVM gave the green light for the vaccination to start after assessing all the required components for successful vaccination.

The delegation of Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, RIVM in ArubaThe Ministry of Public Health, the Department of Public health (DVG), Crisis Management Office (CMO), and the Department of Public Works (DOW) have been preparing since last year for the arrival of the vaccine in Aruba.

Aruba has been working on the vaccination strategy for the past weeks. This is a very elaborate plan that was put together using all available information and innovation. 

The Minister announced on January 7, 2021, that the vaccination plan was ready and that the inspection by the RIVM on January 25 and 26 2021. Before sending the first stock of vaccines.

Vaccination plan COVID-19The RIVM had to approve the strategic vaccination plan and the storage facility or “cold chain” for the vaccines. The government made all the preparations in time for the RIVM’s inspection, including the installation of the special storage freezers and coolers as well as the necessary installations at the vaccination locations strategically selected. The RIVM was impressed with the vaccination plan and gave Aruba the green light to receive the vaccine stock. The RIVM was in Aruba for two days of intensive inspection and presentations that included site inspections at all of the vaccination locations. 

The RIVM’s approval is very important for the healthcare in Aruba land will lead to the recovery of our tourism and the economy.
