ORANJESTAD - After thorough deliberation and based on information provided by the school management, the Crisis Team has decided to postpone the reopening of schools from January 6 to 10, 2022.

Since many teachers, parents, and students are in isolation and quarantine, the Crisis Team wants to avoid agglomeration at schools. The Crisis Team urges schools to have all hygiene protocols in place because the Omicron is the prevalent variant in Aruba and is highly contagious. On January 5, 2022, the government will announce additional safety protocols.

The Crisis Team advises the schools to use the two additional off days to ensure everything is in place to reopen on Monday. The Crisis team hopes that most students and teachers are out of isolation or quarantine by Monday.

The Crisis Team and the Government of Aruba are very grateful to the teachers and everyone working in the education sector for their dedication and efforts during these trying times.
