‘Silver Entrepreneurship’ Workshop for retirees or soon-to-retire individuals

ORANJESTAD - IDEA (Development for Aruban Entrepreneurs), a unit of the Department of Economic Affairs, Commerce and Industry, organizes the Silver Entrepreneurship Workshop.

IDEA invites all aspiring entrepreneurs within the target group of retirees or soon-to-retire persons to attend the workshop to enhance their knowledge. Professionals from all backgrounds will be presenting this workshop. The speakers will help you brainstorm your ideas and make them a reality.

  • Mr. Dave Martinus, Certified Business Coach for ActionCOACH; What is entrepreneurship?
  • IDEA will elaborate on the services, training, and courses they provide to their clients and guidance in setting up business plans.
  • DEACI's Business Establishment division will discuss all kinds of establishment permits one can apply for at this division
  • Customs: Agriculture, Livestock and Fishery, Industrial Companies, Exemptions, Imports, and Exports
  • Mrs. Gayle Arends, Policy Advisor for Sustainable Development Planning at the Department of Economic Affairs will present "How to apply sustainability in your company"
  • Notary Johnson will present "Business types (proprietorship/ LLC / VBA), business successions (difference in companies) when you want to start a business and information on making a will/legacy (what can be inherited and who can inherit)
  • SVB; Employers and employees insurance (social premiums)
  • Mr. Benny Richardson, The importance of having a successful personal life by being healthy. Eat healthily and exercise). The right mindset for a successful entrepreneur.
  • Futura, Applying innovation in your business;
  • Santa Rosa, Commercializing agriculture.

The following speakers will share their experiences:

  • Mrs. Susie Franken, owner of Djiespie’s Place, will share her success story
  • Mr. Lionel Rumnit, Job Coach Specialist at ‘Trampolin pa Trabao’:, will share his experience on the training individuals with a handicap to be part of the labor market.
  • Mrs. Sandra Brown will share her success in working in senior homes.
  • Mr. Merrill Robles (retiree) on helping the community through a business and outside of a business.

These workshops are free of charge and take place at the DAECI located at the Sun Plaza Mall, in room 25 on the second floor.
