The MDFT is a systematic therapy for the youth with one or more behavior issues like delinquency or substance abuse. This method offers durable support to the families of these derailed youth. This method mitigates the risk of these adolescents ending up in jail. It also guides the families of the individuals when they are released so they can be re-integrated into the families, who will guide the ex-inmate. Six new therapists will start soon with this course and be ready to provide the necessary support to the community.

Presentation the Social Security Council about the new method they want to introduce called Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT).The Minister regularly meets with the Social Security Council, which is the platform where all the entities come together like; Safehouse, Department of Social Affairs, Guardianship Council, Family Justice Center, KIA, Police Department, and the Fundacion Guiami. These entities concluded that this method has an added value since it does not only focus on the individual but also on the entire family of the individual and the system. In addition, after this period, the return on investment entails non-relapse into the system. They will get help and durable support.

The course has a duration of 1 year and starts in September and ends in June 2023. The intention is to start with a few cases and put these into practice immediately since this method is practical. They will help the families not only by focusing on the negative things but on the correction to help these families. MDFT professionals in the Netherlands will come to Aruba to give this course to the six therapists. This method is flexible and adaptable to the culture in Aruba.

During the meeting, they agreed that the Safehouse will serve as the coordination center. Every time there is a case, it will be assigned to a therapist, which guarantees much-needed support. The meeting on the future of the social chain was fruitful. With the help of the six therapists, it will also reduce the caseload of some of the entities.
