ORANJESTAD – The Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs and Culture, Mr. Xiomara Maduro, announced that stores and supermarkets are not allowed to be open on Christmas Day December 25 and New Year’s day January 1, 2021 for the public.

Gas stations, drug stores, hospitality business and stores located inside hotels who have a hotel permit, can do business as usual. During the above mentioned dates, all other stores will remain closed and there will be no exception. Officials of the Department of Economic Affairs, Commerce and Industry will be enforcing the closing hours policy. This year’s policy change is in connection with the pandemic and due to the fact that no cruise ships are visiting.
