ORANJESTAD - As known, on July 6, 2022, the Aruba Immigration Authority announced the new process concerning the permission for minors to travel abroad.

Considering that some parents are already traveling today or next week, the Department of Immigration revises the new process announced yesterday. It will now accept the prior process that entails a letter signed by both parents,

However you can download the travel permission form with a minor (Toestemmingsformulier) child here.

The current procedure requires an authorization letter signed by one of the parents for a minor to leave Aruba. Since the summer vacation is rapidly approaching, many families are traveling, and in many cases with minors. However, this process causes hiccups when controlling the submitted documents. On various occasions, it causes confusion, delays, and loss of flights. For this reason, the Aruba Immigration authority introduced the form to take children’s rights into account and to prevent kidnapping.

In the past, there have been cases where a parent or other person took advantage of the situation and abandoned Aruba with a minor without the other parent’s knowledge. For this reason, the immigration authorities introduced a standard form this new process where a birth certificate is no longer required. With this system, the immigration authorities will have a more extensive database, better control, and shorter and more efficient processes.

Aruba Immigration Authority monitors the situation and evaluates the possibility of implementing the new process starting July 18, 2022.
