ORANJESTAD - Due to the crisis caused by the Corona virus, a temporary policy for renewing the driving license has been introduced.

As indicated in Article 9, paragraph 1 of the National Decree on Driving and Testing Certificates (AB 1999 No. 61), under normal circumstances the renewal of driver licenses is within 1 year after expiry, only when it has expired. In view of the critical situation in which the world finds itself, the Minister of Justice has temporarily adjusted the renewal policy. A driver's license of Aruba that is or will expire between March 16, 2019 and July 30, 2020 is still considered valid for driving motor vehicles until July 31 2020, for the categories listed on each driver's license.

This temporary policy is only valid for local use of the driving license and is not valid abroad.

As soon as the situation normalizes, the policy will be adjusted in a transition phase.
