This marks the opening of an important week in regards to the children’s wellbeing.
Children's wellbeing is a priority for the Government of Aruba and especially for the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor. Awareness and education about children’s education is a significant part of this policy.
Aruba and other Caribbean Islands in the Dutch Caribbean are members of the Children's Taskforce within the Dutch Kingdom.
The taskforce’s duties include addressing important topics for the islands collectively.
One of the topics that they want to promote is the wellbeing of the children on all the islands with the focus on the Children’s upbringing in a safe environment full of love and affection. Therefore, they installed the “Pedagogic Commission” which is in charge of the realization of the Pedagogic Vision in Aruba.
Entities that are part of this commission are:
- Tienda di Educacion
- Fundacion Respeta Mi
- Fundacion Pa Nos Muchanan
- White Yellow Cross Foundation
- Department of Social Affairs.
In addition to the Pedagogic Commission, there is a platform consisting of big organizations that support the pedagogic work and vision.
Aruba began in 2018, just like the other countries within the Dutch Kingdom, to focus more on the topic of Children’s upbringing by organizing the “Children’s Education Week”, which in the Netherlands is known as “Education week”. The Government chose this week because November 20 is World Children’s Day.
The Child Education week runs until November 25, 2020and will be focusing on the parents. The Center for the Youth and Family will give two courses. This will continue during the weekend with different activities focusing on the children, the youth, and their families. Next week they will have a conference by the Taskforce of the Dutch Kingdom on multiple topics for the field professionals.
Special thanks go to all members of the “Commission Pedagogic Vision Aruba”, other partners and entities who are organizing the different sessions during this week, and the Social Crisis Plan for their support.
Minister Croes emphasized the importance of our children and families since they are the foundation of our community. He wishes all participants success during the Children’s Education Week.
