Via Crucis not allowed this year

ORANJESTAD – According to the Crisis Team, due to all the current safety protocols to fight against Covid19, this year the “Via Crucis” or Stations of the Cross cannot be held on any public location or outside churches or places of worship during the lent, for the safety of the community.

The current Ministerial regulation, agglomeration is not permitted nor walking in gatherings throughout the entire day. Besides, there is a curfew that prohibits anyone from being outdoors between 10 pm and 5 am. The Crisis Team urges everyone to take these measures into consideration which only serve to protect the community.

Last year the Via Crucis was regretfully not held either for the same reasons.

In the upcoming days, the vaccination program will be accelerated and extended, and in the event, the amount of new daily cases decrease, some measures will be eased.
